It’s a snow day here in PA so I’m busy planning our meals for the month. This month’s menu includes delicious comfort foods and quick meals for busy nights. Creating a monthly meal plan for our family of 4 helps me to stay organized and have a plan for dinner every night.
Breakfast and Lunch Ideas for Winter
I don’t typically create a detailed plan for our breakfasts and lunches. I usually plan for a few options for breakfast and a few for lunch and make sure that we have basic supplies on hand so they can help themselves.
Breakfast ideas for winter:
- Scrambled eggs with toast
- Baked Oatmeal with berries
- Banana Muffins with nuts
- Yogurt with granola and fruit
- Quiche
- Bagels and cream cheese
- Cereals (let’s be honest – the kids choose cereal or bagels most mornings)
Lunch ideas for the month:
- Soups and Stews! Sometimes I make a stew or soup during the week so I double the batch so we can have leftovers for lunch
- Grilled Cheese and canned tomato soup
- Chicken salad sandwiches
- Quiche and salad
- Raman – we often add a soft boiled egg to add some protein (if you have teens you probably have Ramen Noodles in your house)
- Macaroni and Cheese
- Cut vegetables and dip
I often write my monthly meal plan in my daily planner. I like to have it with me throughout the month. I also write our weekly menu on a weekly meal planning sheet that I hang in our kitchen.
