Vacationing – Using Daily Deal Sites to Save While On Vacation

A few weeks ago we packed up the kids loaded up the van and headed north for 8 hours to Cape Cod, Massachusetts.  I grew up spending my summers up at “The Cape”. This year we headed up with my inlaws and were looking foward to a week of peace and quite in a nice rental home in the town of Brewster. The weeks leading up to our vacation I started looking for deals online. I knew of sites like Groupon and Eversave but I knew I wanted deals specific to Cape Cod.  Finally I found a great site, Cape Cod Daily Deal! The Cape Cod Daily Deal official web site is not live yet but I was able to connected with them on Facebook and even won 2 gift certificates for companies in Cape Cod.

The first Gift Certificate we used was for a new little place called FinBars.

5 Route 6A
Orleans, MA 02653
Phone: 508.255.9055

Finbars could easily be mistaken for a Dairy Queen because they are located in an old DQ building – Don’t be fooled – this is NOT DQ – this is much, much better! They are located right off the rotary in Orleans.  I was told that they have the best fish tacos and boy were they right! I ordered the fish tacos and sweet potato fries. The tacos had a delicious, slightly spicy sauce on top which made them perfect! Everyone loved the sweet potato fries as well!   We had to skip the ice cream but they had a great selection! The prices were very reasonable and they have a great menu.  Everything was perfect and we’re looking forward to going back the next time were up!

The second gift certificate we had was for Midsummer nights in Chatham.

Midsummer Nights
443 Main St
Chatham, MA 02633

Midsummer Nights is a boutique that specializes in tastefully beach themed accessories, home decor, furniture and clothing. I browsed around taking in all of the beautiful decor. The  case jewelry was full of lovely pieces as well. I immediately fell in love with a kelly green tote bag, that when I checked the tag, was well out of my price range.  “Luxuries for Living”, their tagline was right on. This shop offers a fine shopping experience.  I wish I had come prepared because I keep thinking about that gorgeous kelly green bag!  Finally, I found a beautiful soy candle for our kitchen.  I will be sure to stop back here when we are back on the Cape, it’s a great place to pick up a quality gift for a friend!

Thanks to the folks over at Cape Cod Daily Deal! We are looking forward to their official launch so we can grab a bunch of other great deals before our next trip to the cape in the fall! More about that in the next post!

** Special thanks to the girls at Scout: A Daily Guide to Cape Cod for allowing me to share their photos from Midsummer Nights with you. Be sure to stop by and visit their blog, especially if you are planning a trip to Cape Cod!
