Ireland Bound – Part 2

Sharing is caring!

If you haven’t already read part one of our story… you can read it HERE

Today I’m going to do my best to share some of the journey that brought us here and is leading us to Northern Ireland to serve with YWAM.

Today I’m starting in 2003…

In January of 2003 I hopped on a plane and headed to Townsville Australia to spent 6 months with YWAM (Youth With a Mission) – pronounced “WHY-wham”. I was a student in their Discipleship Training School (DTS). The mission of YWAM is simple, to know God and make him known. During my DTS my life was changed. I learned who God is and had time to find healing, restoration and grow.

During our school we spent 2 weeks camping in the outback. This, my friends, was quite the adventure!  During our time camping I shared with a group of friends my dream to someday start a coffee shop. One of my friends, told me about a church in Pennsylvania that wanted to start a local church with a coffee shop ministry. He told me that he would pass along the information to me so I could look into it.

A Few months later…

When I was planning to leave the YWAM, I met with the base director, Ken, he asked me if I would consider staying and helping them with their new coffee shop. Oh how I wish I could have… but, my return ticket was purchased and I had no financial support set up. So sadly I had to pack my bags and head back to the States. When I returned home I remembered the church in Pennsylvania my friend told me about. I contacted him and he e-mailed me the information and I made a plan to visit with the pastor.

After working all summer at a camp,  I headed on a 2 week road-trip with two friends. During the trip we made a stop in Pennsylvania so I could meet with the pastor of the church. After talking with him and hearing the vision for the church I was asked if I would come and help. About 2 weeks after our road-trip I packed up a U-Haul and moved down to PA…

…part 3 coming soon..
