The Latham Hotel

I read about The Latham Hotel online when I was researching Hotels to stay at.  I read tons of reviews and although this hotel, like many, had mixed reviews I wanted to learn more.  I pulled up the hotels website and read that they had recently renovated all of the guest rooms and the lobby, lounge and new restaurant were under construction.  Because of the renovations the hotel was offering 25% discount on all rooms!  What a deal! I called the hotel and talked with the General Manager, Megan.  She was great.  I told her that this was a special occasion, a surprise for my husband.  She offered to upgrade our room, and give me the AAA discount.  (I ended up not taking the AAA discount and I ordered my room online with the 25% discount instead, because it was a better discount.)  She went above and beyond to make our stay special.

Once we were checked in we headed straight up to our room to drop off our things.

The room was beautiful!!

The views from our room were great:

I wish I had better photos of all of the little touches that the Latham Hotel offers.

Beside the bed there was an iHome alarm clock – so you could bring along your Ipod/phone and play your music in the room.  on both sides of the bed there were small adjustable LED lights for reading. The manager left us a bottle of wine which was a nice touch.   The bathroom was really nice too, although, not as big as I expected and to be honest the tub was a standard tub. I was really hoping for a nice garden tub or something nicer.  The sink was a beautiful Kohler sink and the toilet seat closed really slowly… like magic! (cause I know you all care about the toilet seat!)

Parking in Philly is not so great, like most cities.  We paid a hefty price to have our car parked, ($35!!)  and in hindsight we should have just parked in a garage down the street. (live and learn!)  The doorman was super!  He was one of the most friendly people we met on our trip.  The hotel staff were also very helpful and answered all of our questions.

Our time at the hotel was very relaxing, it was the perfect location – close to everything.  We were able to walk to dinner on Saturday night and we even walked all the way to the Art Museum on Sunday.  The hotel was in the perfect location so we could easily just pop in and out through the day if we needed to.  They were busy renovating what will be a new restruant at the hotel and I can’t wait to see how it turns out!

Finding a great deal at The Latham Hotel made it possible for us to take this trip.  Thanks to Megan for the awesome free upgrade, we hope to make it back once the restaurant is completed and enjoy another weekend in Philly!

Disclosure:  The perks and room upgrade were made by the manager with the knowledge that a review would be written. I was not paid to write this review and all of the opinions are my own. In case you didn’t gather from my review it was a great place to stay!  If it were a terrible place to stay, trust me, I would tell you!  That’s the beauty of reviews, an HONEST opinion by a real-live person!
