New Things, Exciting Things! – Ireland Bound!

Oh happy day!! I can finally share with you God has been doing and our big ‘news’!

If you are looking for part 2 of our story you can find it HERE

We are applying to join the YWAM base in Rostrevor, Northern Ireland!  We are hoping to move our family there at the end of this summer to serve with the Youth with a Mission base, An Cuan (Irish for “Harbor”). I guess I should get used to adding u’s to words like harbour, colour and favour… ok, back to our news…   We hope to serve a 2-3 year volunteer staff position there; helping with many ministries on and off base, including helping with their cafe and staffing Discipleship Training Schools.

The heart of the Rostrevor YWAM base is to be a place where people come for a while to receive respite, rest or training and then go back out to the nations with the good news. They focus on four areas of ministry; reconciliation, renewal, mission, and communit.

Before I continue,  I want to acknowledge that we are just in the beginning stages, we are holding this dream with open hands, there are many hurdles that we have to go over and we know that there is always a possibility that this may not happen the way we are hoping, and that is O.K!

Youth with a Mission is an international missions organization of Christians from many backgrounds, cultures and Christian traditions, dedicated to serving Jesus throughout the world. Our purpose is simply to “know God and make Him known.”

If you want to take a peek at the An Cuan base, Kristin, from The LoveFeast Table has shared her pictures (in a post about Ireland-Decor) at their site here.

The journey ahead is long and we have so much to do to prepare for this big adventure.  We are currently in the application process with both YWAM and also with our church and we would appreciate your prayers.  God has been already doing so many amazing things.  I’ll be sure to share some of the stories soon.

Our hope is that we might be heading to Ireland sometime in the late summer, so our children can be enrolled in school (more on this later…) and so we can get settled before Kevin and I start the DTS together.  ( I did my DTS in 2003 in Australia but will be joining Kevin while he does his DTS in the fall). We will be making an initial 2-3 year commitment.

So there it is… I feel like I’ve been keeping this a secret for a long time when really it’s only been a few weeks.  We are excited but also open and ok with whatever God chooses to do.

Throughout the next few weeks I will be sharing our story and how we got here.

The more I look back, the more I see God’s hands in all of it. It’s amazing how God orchestrates our lives!  If things continue to move forward we will praise Him, if God changes his plans we will Praise Him.  It’s a pretty exciting journey we are on and I’m so blessed to know that I have all of you, my faithful readers and friends praying for us!

Thanks Denise, it’s been a weird year and it’s just so neat how God puts the pieces together. We’re thankful to feel called to go and we are trusting Him to make our path clear.

    Donna,
This is so cool. We loved Northern Ireland when we visited it a few years ago. My husband says it’s his favorite vacation. We spent all our time north of Belfast…never made it south. What a fantastic adventure. Will pray for you.

See you in a couple weeks at Beech
