Mom’s Weekend Away

This past weekend I jumped a train and headed to Connecticut for a weekend away with my sister.

We both needed a break.  Her life has been nothing but stressful and draining.  She’s an amazing mom and wife and goes way above and beyond for her family. She needed this break.

I’ve been feeling like a stressed-out-mess.  Out of control home, messy floors, dirty dishes, unplanned meals… a mess.  Work is keeping me busy, which is a blessing.  I’ve worked over 40 hours in the last 3 weeks.  That’s 40 billable hours that does not include other projects that I’ve taken on unpaid this month.  It’s been great, but very, very busy.  I needed a break too.

So off we went – a weekend at a beautiful Bed and Breakfast:

No dishes, no laundry.  We were even able to go to the bathroom in peace!  Can you believe it?  We went for walks and enjoyed the beautiful views.

There may have been some trespassing to get the perfect sunset photo… and someone may have been caught red handed.  As you can see it was worth it to get such a beautiful photo.

*Disclosure – I was innocent, sitting in the car as the property owner waltzed down from his house smirking at me, he passed the car and headed straight to the dock, his dock.  My sister immerged off of the dock just in time, and threw the guy a smile.

As we drove away we yelled out of the window “sorry” and “thank you” for letting us borrow his dock. He smiled and waved.  Phew!!

See in the mirror – my sister – the criminal!!

We found this crazy bookstore The Book Barn and wandered around.

A wonderful weekend.  We partied hard… not-so-much… We were in bed by 11pm. Awake by 6am.  By the end of the last day we were missing the kiddos and ready to head home, but it was a much needed break.

Moms, for your family’s sake, take time for yourself.  Maybe you can’t do a whole weekend away.  Take a long bath, grab a coffee alone at a cafe, hide in the closet… do something!!  You deserve it my friends!
