Best Potluck Ever!
The Big Summer Potluck Wrap Up

I’ve been trying to catch my breath ever since getting home from The Big Summer Potluck this weekend.  It was a blast!

I’m not a food blogger, but I love to cook (or bake, really, people… I LOVE to bake!!).  Unfortunately, I can’t even consider becoming a food blogger, my waistline couldn’t handle it!

The food was amazing…

I met wonderful people

Because I’m out of the ‘food blogger’s world’ I did not know  just how darned popular or famous many of these great bloggers were!

This, my friends, is a plus.

I was able to just say, “hey” to everyone without being ‘star struck’.  Well… except for that one blogger, a girl who’s name rhymes with “Soy the Shaker“.  She of course was down to earth,  hilarious (just as I suspected!),  and honest.  She’s like my long-lost sarcasm twin.  I may have laughed a little bit this weekend.

From Joy this weekend:

“We have a choice; when we see these pretty things [on Pinterest or other blogs] we can either be jealous or inspired.  So, what do we choose?  To be jealous, of course! And terrified that we can’t keep up!”

Jealousy leads to self criticism, leads to self doubt which leads to unproductive thoughts.”

“It’s not filling up [the Internet] there is room for everyone!

“Write about the thing that is ‘so weird’ the things at the core of you.”

and my favorite,

“It’s much more challenging to try to not be yourself”

I enjoyed time at the table with people like Pam Anderson and her daughter Maggie  from Three Many Cooks, Irwin from Eat the Love Deb from Smitten Kitchen, Shaina from Food for My Family, Marisa from Food in Jars, Laura from LB’s Good Spoon, Tracy from Shutterbean, Chris and Karen from The Peche, Lindsay from Love and Olive Oil,  Aimée from Simple Bites, Erica from Ivory Hut, Jen from My Kitchen Addiction and many many many more (i.love.you.all!).

The sponsors were fantastic

The companies that sponsored this weekend were top notch! They were kind, open to new ideas, and just as excited as we were to build relationships and work together.  The reps that each sponsor sent were some of the nicest I’ve met!  Musselman’s,  KitchenAid,  Kerrygold,  Anolon,  Tasty Kitchen,  Green Mountain Coffee,  Driscoll’s  and  Attune Foods.  I’m excited to work with these companies in the future!

I came away with great new friends,  inspiration to get back into the kitchen and whip up some good eats for my family and share the recipes with you here on Hey, Donna.

The Big Potluck just launched their new website, be sure to check it out.  Who knows, their next event might be near you!

Looking back at the weekend  I know that it was one of those ‘meant to be’ moments in life. I’m so thankful to Kristin and Chris Ann from LoveFeast Table for making it happen!
