I’ve Had a Messed Up Heart – Part 2

If you have not read part 1 of “I’ve Had a Messed Up Heart’ you can read it HERE.

During the 2:1 Conference many woman shared about home, marriage, homeschooling and blogging.  I have pages and pages of notes. I was beyond encouraged!

Heidi St. John, a homeschool mom of 7 shared “The Busy Mom’s Guide To Time Management”.  I think a better title would have been, “Donna, get your priorities in order” because every word out of her mouth could have been shared with me over a cup of coffee.  I felt like I may have been gifted this wonderful opportunity to go to the 2:1 Conference just to hear Heidi speak.

Here are just a few snippets from my notes:

If Satan can take out the marriage he can get to your kids much easier

Your kids are watching

When you deal with conflict in a good way your children see

Our children are our primary ministry” (not my blog, church ministry, etc)

The goal of education is discipleship!

It’s not Time management it’s ME  management

1. Spiritual life comes 1st.  1st priority. 1st thing each day. It is non-negotiable.

Let your children see you reading your bible.
Pray for your husband and children daily.
I need to be filled up or I have nothing to give.

2. My husband comes before the children.

I need to put blessing him on the “to-do” list
I still can be “That girl” to him.
It’s never too late

3. My children are watching me.

They see how I prioritize each day.
Will they see me reading my bible.
Will I say I’m sorry.
Will I admit when I’m wrong?
Do I praise them?
Will they want to have the kind of marriage that I have?
Will they become or want the kind of wife that I am?

So God’s working on my heart. My life might look and sound different that it has in the past and that’s ok. I’m changing my priorities and it’s for my family! This messed up heart is getting some attention!

I have so much more to share about the conference, I am super encouraged and hopeful for what is ahead for our marriage, family and homeschooling.  Thanks for coming along on the journey.  I’ll be doing much more “Keeping it Real…” in the future!

Oh, I am praying for you, my new-found friend!

You notes were excellent, each line echoed in my heart too. I love when she said, “create a marriage worth defending.”

Being REAL is always a blessing.

I’m praying for you, Donna. I think I wrote the same notes word for word. She spoke right to my heart in so many ways and God picked up right where she left off. Our marriage is sorely neglected and God kept telling me to buy the romance book. I tried to ignore him, but finally obeyed. Just buying the book has made me more mindful of making my marriage something worth defending, something my kids will want, the marriage that God intended for us to have. Now, to start reading the book!

Love you and am so blessed to have met you!

I love the questions you asked of yourself, I’m asking them of myself now. Go girl – make those positive, eternity-changing-changes in your home! I’m right there with ya, making changes in mine!

Oh Donna!! I’m so glad I got to see you IRL again and had time to chat with you! This weekend really opened up all of our hearts to see what kind of mess was in there. You are not alone. We all have work to do. The important part is that we realize it and get to work on it!! Love ya, friend!

I feel that way too a lot! I took tons of notes too and hope to get my priorities in order too. I tend to put my kids before my husband, so that is one area I can work on.

Just reading the words “that girl” makes me want to cry – I started the HSJ marriage book on the way home, and just teared up with that passage. Our marriages deserve our very best – now and always.

SO glad to meet you at dinner!! Hope to see you again soon.
