What a Ride – Highlights from Relevator

What is Relevator?

If you’re just now hearing about this awesome new addition to the Relevant Conference, you have meen missing out. Relevator was an elevator ride that I will never forget.

Picture a group of woman heading up to the 10th floor lounge for a little relaxing and maybe a Coke.  Add one adorable little baby boy and his beauty-of-a-mom.

What started as a quick trip up a few flights, quickly turned into a sardine can full of hot mamas!  And by HOT I mean sweaty sticky and overheated mamas!!

While we had plans for a nice cold can of soda, our elevator had different plans.

Up 2 flights and STOP.

No open doors, no 10th floor soda stop!

We waited, a minute or two thinking, “well it should start again, any minute now”

10-20-30 minutes pass, we’ve called the hotel front desk, “help is on the way”

40-50-60 minutes pass… and our patience, kindness and understanding are quickly fading.  Adorable baby boy is still cute as a button and happily playing at our feet – his mama, however is ready to breakout the mommy-defense skills.

{{  Disclosure:  Please note that all times mentioned in this post are estimates. After 500 hours in the elevator, it’s not easy to remember the exact time }}

She calls the front desk to find out that help is STILL on the way… not at the hotel yet, still on the way!  1 hour in and help is not working on it yet, they are “on the way”

The above said mama, hangs up, announces that her mama-hormones are going to step in and dials 911.

We will get out of this elevator! She will make sure of it.

About 10 minutes later, right as the walls of the elevator starting to drip with condensation from the heat, the door magically opened!  We dive out onto the 5th floor, falling to the ground!

A minute later a fireman comes running up the stairs.  Did he get us out?  Nope – the door just opened, on their own!

We all survived!  For many of us it was one of our biggest fears, and everyone handled it so well!  On a more serious note, each one of these ladies really held it together, considering the circumstances!  We’ve sure got some memories out of the whole ordeal!

Thanks ladies for the memories!

Oh my goodness! At least y’all all had a good sense of humor about the whole thing. (And the presence of mind to take photos and video for later!)

It’s a miracle no one else got stuck in there during the weekend – those elevators were so confused!

It’s quite funny how quick we were to grab our cell phones and run to Twitter and Facebook alerting the masses about our situation! Then out came the cameras, we are all definitely bloggers!!

You poor things! I heard about the elevator incident but wasn’t there that first day. You are all totally awesome to be able to laugh in the midst of that.

I heard a few others got stuck on the elevator when the power was going on and off during the snowstorm too, but I bet they didn’t have as much fun as we did!

Love this! The video is great, but you guys look too happy. Where were all the tears, drama, screaming, and gnashing of teeth? 🙂

Seriously, I’m glad you all got out of there ok and were able to stay level headed.

Yah, it was funny for a little while but really aggravating when we realized that nothing was being done yet! I’m glad we made it out!
