Today I thought, “Ugh! I’ve got nothing prepared to blog about” … and then I read an excellent blog post and I feel like a new blogger!
The post: 10 Important Things I’ve Learned About Blogging, was written by one of my all-time-favorite girls Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman. Ree had 10 points in her post these 3 points were perfect for me today, just what I needed to hear. (Thanks Ree!). Be sure to read her entire post!
I’ve been really trying to figure out if I need to narrow down the type of topics I write about here at Another New Season. I sometimes feel pressure to have a “niche”. I’m just not sure. Until I make any decisions I’ll take Ree’s advice – Be myself. I love how she say it, ” Write in your own voice. Write as if you’re talking to your sister.” Some people may not love that advice but I find it freeing! I talk to my sister on the phone every morning, since having coffee with her would require a 5 hour drive!
This is something that, again, I struggle with. I’ve been trying to blog about 4 times a week. For me, having goals and deadlines keeps me on task. This is working for me right now but I hope to learn some tips and tricks from other bloggers at The Relevant Conference next month!
If you have writer’s block, push through and blog anyway.
This is a big one… actually this post is a “Push Through It” post. I sat down just a few minutes ago and voila! I have a tendency to over think posts, or just simply not write one if I’m feeling stumped. I’m going to try to follow this advice and just blog anyway! So be on the look out for more on the fly posts from me.
So you’ve been warned
I’m going to be sure to be myself which includes occasional sarcasm, typos and random thoughts. Also when writers block sneaks up you might find that I’ve written a post about avacado… just because, I love them.
I adore Ree and LOVE how she writes, she writes the way I talk and I think she might just be be related in a very twice removed kind-of-way. Or so I’d like to think.
So Ree… if you’re reading this, which I’m sure you’re not… Thank you, Thank you for your writing, your honesty and your cinnamon rolls. Especially the rolls. Oh, and thanks for the kick in the pants and the great blogging advice!
Ok friends, pop over to Ree’s amazing website and read her thoughts and the rest of this post!
