Spring Cleaning Day 5 – Small Appliances Clear Out

Sorry for the delay… I took it easy Friday but it sure looks like I did a lot.

I focused on clearing off the counter tops and sorting through the small appliances. When we moved 4 months ago we cleared out many unnecessary appliances. The only thing I decided to get rid of was our cappuccino machine (used only 3 times!) and our broken blender.

I did move some appliances into the basement. These were items that we don’t use very often. If I find that we haven’t used them much by this time next year they will be sold!

I spent most of my time reorganizing the cabinets and moving things around. I decided to remove my beloved Kitchen Aid Mixer off of the counter and storing it in a cabinet. I haven’t wanted to do this because it is so darn heavy and I use it multiple times a week. I’ll try it out for a week or two and see how it works. I have to admit that I love how the counter looks now. So clean and empty!

I think we’ll get a magnetic knife strip to put somewhere for all of our knives, the knife block is just so awkward on the counter. Has anyone out there used one of these magnetic strips? Are they a good idea? Are they safe?

Leave me a comment and let me know!

I’m not nearly done in the kitchen. I still have to clean out the fridge and tackle cleaning the oven (our used gas stove, I’m afraid!!!). I also have 4 drawers that I want to sort through and re-organize. I’ll see if I can get those done this weekend! I didn’t take before and after photos of the appliance cabinets but I wanted to share how the kitchen looks overall!

On to the photos:

Here is a picture of my “coffee center” it’s just a lazy susan on top of the fridge with all my coffee stuff! It’s like a mini Starbucks in my kitchen!
